Ephemeral Geography, 2015

Ephemeral Geography (2015)
Ephemeral Geography is an installation dedicated to the passing of my sister. It unfolds as a continuous work on Fabriano cartridge drawing paper, running length‑to‑length at 15 metres by 50 cm. Working in watercolour, acrylic, pastel and pencil, I built an aerial, map‑like field of colour and mark that recalls the coastal, subtropical landscape where she died.
The work’s horizontal sweep and layered media create a sense of movement and transience — an attempt to hold memory across distance and time. Exhibited twice, including Back Gallery Ballarat and during the 2016 Castlemaine State Festival, Ephemeral Geography functions as both a commemorative landscape and a contemplative route for viewers to move through loss and place.
